  • I’m Mark Powers, a percussion artist/educator, speaker, writer and adventurer.

My greatest passions are traveling the globe, performing and studying percussion instruments, rhythms, and techniques in other cultures, and integrating those concepts and approaches into the rhythm-based school, corporate, and community workshops that I facilitate.

Need a drummer for a performance or recording session? Looking for a creative way to develop valuable communication skills among your employees? Interested in sharing the fun of percussion with your students?

Click on the image to the right to watch my talk, "I Am The Instrument," at TEDxConcordiaUPortland, or surf around the site to find out where I'm performing and teaching and what albums I've recorded on.

While you're here, also be sure to check out some of the percussion-related articles I've written and my free online lessons!

  • On the publishing side of things, I'm the author of Solo In Style and co-author of The 2-in-1 Drummer (along with percussion greats Walfredo Reyes, Sr., Elliot Fine and David Stanoch) and the Amazon Bestseller Self-Promotion Sucks! (but it doesn't have to). I also did the music engraving on David Stanoch's 2009 Modern Drummer Magazine Reader's Poll winner, Mastering the Tables of Time.

More drumset resources, a world percussion play-along package and several percussion solo/ensemble compositions can all be found over on my Products page!
