Welcome to my online abode! I’m Mark Powers, a percussion artist/educator, adventurer and seeker of crazy foods.

I travel the globe performing and studying percussion and teach my rhythm-based school, corporate and community workshops at schools and organizations throughout the country.

It’s been an incredible honor to share the stage with artists as diverse as Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Devon Evans (of Bob Marley and the Wailers), Rolling Stones saxophonist Tim Ries, [America's Polka King] the late Frankie Yankovic, The Afrodisiacs and The Spazmatics (and more).

Silly claim to fame: a few buddies and I were co-holders of a Guinness World Record for a while (Longest Drum Roll by a Group: 2003-2005) for playing a continuous 12-hour drumroll! Click here for info about my teachers, some awards, published writing, blah blah blah . . .

Aside from performing, teaching and writing, my personal projects include TheDonatingDrummer, where I contribute money from one gig each month to jumpstart other people’s goals; and recording a series of audio CDs during my travels, to benefit the regions of the world I visit and learn from. [Latest release: Amaloboozi, featuring youth choirs and local musicians of Uganda.]
