BACK FROM GHANA
December 17, 2003 -

The trip to Ghana was absolutely amazing. I studied Gahu, Tokoe, Achiagbekor and Kinka pieces with the Ewe people in the Volta Region, a small amount of Kpanlogo and Fume-Fume with the Ga of the Greater Accra Region, and met a great teacher for future trips in the Northern Region (where, due to tribal issues, drumming isn't currently allowed). The people, drumming, scenery and culture were all more incredible than I could
ever have imagined. I'm working out the plans for a two-week group trip in September 2004. If you or anyone you know might be interested in going along, contact me for more details. I guarantee the adventure of a lifetime! But it's great to be back home. I can't wait to get back into my school programs and share the new drums and experiences with the students. Check back on this site- I'll be adding photos and more about the trip soon.

September 12, 2003 -

Pat, Peter, Namiah and myself completed the 12-hour buzz roll! We are now awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records in London, England. It may take a few months, but check back often. I'll let you know ASAP.
